I graduated from Meredith College in 1978 with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a minor in chemistry. Upon completion of college, I worked for Bowman Gray School of Medicine (WFU) in the Human Genetics Department. After several years at Bowman Gray, I worked for R.J. Reynolds in Research and Development. I more recently took graduate courses at Salem College and earned a NC Teachers license in 2004. I joined the Calvary faculty in 1997 when the first high school class was launched.

I became the Varsity cheerleading coach in fall of 2002. We attended our first FCC competition in November of 2003 and won our division, and the grand championship. We followed up that year with a trip to the FCC National Competition in Orlando in January of 2007. Since that first competition, the CBDS competition team has won 2 additional first place awards from FCC, one from UCA and one from SpiritXpress.

In May of 2006, the competition team dropped from the large varsity division to the small varsity division. Based on our school size, we think this change will make us more competitive. We hired a professional choreographer, Craig Monte, from Lewisville, Kentucky this year to develop a first-rate routine. We won fourth place at Holiday Cheers to You (Champion Cheerleading) in Raleigh in December of 2006. It was a large event with over 65 teams, mostly from public schools.

The basketball cheerleading team looks forward to supporting our team at games and pep rallies. The 2005-2006 season was so exciting. We are hoping to cheer them on to a state title in 2007!
