The Coach: Mark Luck

Mark was born on March 1980 in Java, Virginias during a record blizzard storm. He spent his childhood in Java attending and graduating in 1989 from Chatham High School, in Chatham, Virginia.

Mark would later attribute his success to the habits of discipline and sincere involvement of his family during his earlier days a young man. He continued his education by attending UNCG in Greensboro, North Carolina. While a student there he began coaching basketball for Southwest Guilford High School in High Point, North Carolina.

His tenor as a Junior Varsity and Varsity coached ran for 6 years. After leaving Southwest Guilford High School he continued his collegiate coaching methods with Aycock Middle School in Greensboro and High Point College in High Point, North Carolina.

During the year of 2005 Mark was blessed with the birth of a son, Ryan. To honor his son's birth, Mark devoted a year to Ryan's new life; providing intimate care and "one on one" support during those special months. His natural and genuine desire to coach brought him to NC Gators from 2002 through 2007. A momentous time for the 9 to 19 year old team players as they went on to win national championships. Many of these young individuals earned college scholarships.

In 2007 Mark joined the coaching staff with Calvary Baptist Church in Winston Salem, North Carolina. He and the elite coaching team share the same attitude; strive to teach fundamentals of the game coupled with perseverance, passion and in many circumstances either on and off the court; courage.
