The Coach: Susan Steadman

Susan Steadman completed the 2006-2007 campaign with 16 years of coaching experience behind her. Eleven of those years were in the Division I collegiate ranks at universities such as Mississippi State (3yrs/Assistant), Marshall University (2 yrs/Head), and the University of Wyoming (6yrs/Head). In each of those seasons she coached All-Conference athletes as well as Conference MVP’s. In her second season at Marshall University, Coach Steadman led hr team to win the Southern Conference tournament and make the NCAA tournament for the first time in the program’s history. She was named Southern Conference Coach-of-the-Year that season as well. At the University of Wyoming, her teams enjoyed success in various years also.

Steadman has completed 5 seasons at the helm of the Cougar’s varsity volleyball program. In those five years, CBDS has competed in 4 State Tournament making it to the semifinals in 2003. They have also won the TAC regular season and tournament title 2 times (2004, 2005). Along the way, many 2A All-State and All-TAC athletes have participated on those teams helping to develop a program growing in the right direction.

A 1991 graduate of Mississippi State, Steadman earned her undergraduate degree in education and her master’s in sports administration in 1994. Steadman was a four year letter winner in volleyball and also played basketball her freshman year. She made the SEC (Southeastern Conference) honor roll as a junior and a senior.
