The Coach: Ashton Sauls
Ashton attended high school in Florida at Melbourne High and Tarpon Springs High lettering in football, baseball, basketball, and track. He quarterbacked a team that played in the 4A State Finals in 1987.
Ashton attended Western Carolina University where he played spring football as a quarterback and a strong safety before injuring his knee.
While at WCU he served as an Assistant Coach for the Junior Varsity Football program at Smokey Mountain High School as a quarterbacks coach.
In recent years he has been an assistant coach for an Optomist team (The Pumas) starting at U5 up to U9. The Pumas have boasted a three year undefeated run that included one year of U9 play as 8 year olds.
His coaching philosophy is deeply rooted in character building and team cohesion. A fair description of yearly team goals would be the production of leadership skills and unit field awareness growth as a whole. But he feels that the most important aspect of coaching is the development personal confidence within the framework of team concepts.
Ashton is married to Joy Hipp Sauls. He is father to Conner (8), and Logan (2). His is the son of Larry and BJ Sauls. All have long been members of Calvary and witnessed Gods work here.
Quote: " It is an honor and an answer to prayer to have the opportunity to embrace a position of leadership in the molding of God-Centered young men in a competitive sports format."
